In this episode, I will share my conversation with designer and author Jean Campbell. We discuss the unlikely origins of Beadwork magazine, steps beaders can take to get published, and a behind the scenes look at her newest book, Creating Glamorous Jewelry with Swarovski Elements. I hope you enjoy the interview.

Loved it!
I have admired Jean Campbell and she has inspired me, since I started beading, just about 4 years ago. I learned the basics from her early work in the Beadwork and her first books. She said she “smiles” when she sees the older issues of Beadwork, because the art has evolved so much. But she should be very proud of those early projects of hers, because that’s where the new beaders, like myself, find a place to start. Her book on beaded beads was so intriging to me, that she made me want to learn more: all the stitches, terms and supplies. It really got me started. And her advise to go for it, fearlessly, is so apt. I entered my first contest last year and won a Bronze medal.
Jean is truly an icon in beading, someone who seems so down to earth and is such an all round Talent! Beading has become an Art, because of that magazine she got started.
I really enjoyed the dialogue between you two. Very good interveiw.
