BCP 08 | Interview with Kerrie Slade

In my interview with Kerrie Slade, we discuss beading in only one color, dragons, and the true meaning of whimsy. I hope you enjoy the interview!

To the right, I’ve selected two photos from Kerrie’s Midnight Garden Collection. See more on her Facebook page.

Thanks!

I want to give a big thanks to our sponsor, The Bead Shop! They have all the beads to feed your addiction, and tools for Jewellery Making, too! Check them out and support a business that supports the show.

  • avatar Leola Gajeski February 7, 2013, 4:16 am

If I could only bead in one color, I think I would choose white. It goes with any other color, and my variety would have to come from varying bead shapes and sizes.

  • avatar Verena Greene-Christ February 7, 2013, 4:17 am

For me it must be orange!!

  • avatar Wanda February 7, 2013, 4:30 am

This looks like it would be fun to make and a wonderful challenge to complete. I would make it in aqua also, but then again maybe I’d make it in pink or coral. You never know what color my needle and thread want!

  • avatar Štěpánka February 7, 2013, 4:44 am

My favorite color is Metallic Iris Brown.

  • avatar Gerlinde Lenz February 7, 2013, 5:03 am

Loved to hear Kerrie again. Yes, she is a role model! If I were to chose one single color, it would be colorless (crystal) , with various surface finishes including matte and AB. Have you seen the all white work by David Chatt?

  • avatar Barbara Ellis February 7, 2013, 5:20 am

I would choose gray. It is a classic sophisticated neutral that goes with everything. I love your midnight series, to me this is the perfect color scheme.

  • avatar Jean Hutter February 7, 2013, 6:15 am

I think maybe black. I like the look of beaded black jewelry – but could I use both matte and shiny!!!!!

  • avatar Sheryl Stephens February 7, 2013, 6:21 am

PURPLE. Royal, regal, bright and bold PURPLE.

  • avatar Linda Katz February 7, 2013, 6:39 am

I love Kerrie’s designs and imaginative creatures. It was so nice to hear her story. I would have a hard time picking one color since my favorite thing about beading is all the lovely choices of color, shapes and effects but if I had to choose 1 color it would be either deep purple like amethyst or turmaline ruby color (which is another shade of purple).

Hands down giltline yellow. Soft with glints of gold. Kind of like a warm sunny day.

If I could only bead in one color? That’s a tough question, I seem to use black a lot but my “happy” color right now is fuschia. So, yes, I will have to go with fuschia as the one color I would choose to bead in right now :-)

  • avatar Lea Avroch February 7, 2013, 9:07 am

What an interesting exercise! Had to think on it for a bit. If I could only bead in 1 color, I suppose it would be black. I love mixing matte black with gloss and there’s all the different seed bead types and sizes to take you from casual to dressy.

I would bead in shades of turquoise….it’s my daughter’s favorite color and there are so many beautiful hues! I always get joy out of beading with this color because it makes me think of her!

  • avatar Roxann February 8, 2013, 1:47 pm
