Bead Soup and Tulip Needle Test Drive

I finished my piece for the Bead Soup Double Up yesterday! Nancy Dale of the Bead Mavens organized this fun swap on Facebook. My swap partner Alice sent me a generous, lovely Earthen palette that is very out of my colorbox.

At first I wasn’t sure what to do about my lack of ideas. I set my bead soup in a ceramic bowl on my beading table to see if it would speak to me. I thought that if the beads were out, and I could see them, maybe we could bond a little and ideas would flow. I picked up the focal cab and thought about how cool it was, and that it deserved a good home. Sounds like I’m crazy, but it worked! I can only show a sneak peak because all the projects will be revealed together on June 1st.

The day I started my project was the same day I went to bead with my friends Lexi and Karen. Lexi had ordered us some of the new Tulip needles from Carol Cypher! I was really excited to try them out, and I am happy to report that I beaded my entire project with only 1 needle. Cynthia Rutledge told us they flex, but they don’t break. Mine is slightly bent, but I’m pretty rough on needles. I’m going to see how many projects I can bead before I break it or render it useless.

I got my order of needles on Saturday. I absolutely LOVE them!! I’m tough on needles and usually end up bending them before I finish a project. So far I’m working with the first needle and it’s not even curved yet! I’ve been work on some 3D stuff and tight circular peyote. I’m working with 15’s and 11’s. I have the 11 needles and they are totally worth the extra money!
